What is an about the author page?

An “about the author” page is the short bio that introduces who wrote a book or posts content. It typically appears on a book’s back cover, on an Amazon or KDP author page, on a personal website or blog, or beside a guest article. A good one is short, specific and true: who the person is, what they write, and a genuine human detail that makes a reader or editor trust them.

Should my author bio be in third or first person?

It depends on where the bio lives. Publisher listings, book back covers and Amazon author pages most often use the third person, as if a publicist wrote it: “J. R. Silva has written quiet thrillers since 2015.” A personal website, about page, blog or coaching bio often reads better in the first person: “I write quiet thrillers.” Use whichever the place expects; the reader simply wants to meet the real person either way.

How long should an author bio be?

There is no fixed length, but common sizes are about 50 words for a tight back-cover line, about 80 to 120 for a standard Amazon author page or website about page, and up to about 150 for a fuller author or speaker introduction.
